From mid-October to New Year's Eve, nearly every big event in Panama City Beach takes place on one patch of grass. Aaron Bessant Park sits across from Frank Brown Park in Pier Park, a block from the beach, on 17 acres with shade trees, sidewalks and air-conditioned restrooms. In 2026, the organizers of these events have started adding details meant for people with a Bay County address. That includes a free Sunday, a new sunset concert, and a Thanksgiving weekend timed for families who are already in town.
Visit Panama City Beach groups this under a campaign it calls For the Love of PCB. The campaign puts visitor support back into beach renourishment, lifeguards, the artificial reef program, and events and festivals. The fall calendar is where residents see that money most directly.
The Pier Concert That Started It
The first sign came in September, about two miles down Front Beach Road. Bay County Parks & Recreation spent the spring and summer running its free Concerts in the Park series around the county, starting April 18 at Under the Oaks Park in Parker and stopping at Bayou George Park in Youngstown on May 9. The series' final stop was at the beach. That stop became the first Sunset Sessions, a free concert the county and Visit Panama City Beach held at M.B. Miller County Pier on Friday, Sept. 18. The county's series announcement lists the pier date as Sept. 19, while its own event record and Visit Panama City Beach both give Sept. 18.
The lineup was all regional. Gulf Coast blues songwriter Corey Hall played first, then String Theory, a Northwest Florida cover band formed in 2018, and then the Florida folk-pop-reggae duo Matt & Zack, who played until 10:30 p.m. Guests were asked to bring chairs and coolers. In Visit Panama City Beach's announcement, president and CEO Griff Griffitts described the purpose this way:
"Sunset Sessions builds on our 'For the Love of PCB' community initiative by enhancing the way of life here, creating new experiences for our residents, celebrating what people love about our destination and inviting visitors to immerse themselves further and stay longer."
The same announcement quoted Bay County Commission Chairman Clair Pease, who called the concert a way "to cap off a great season of live music in our parks." No second date has been announced. The event page still calls September's show the inaugural one. For now, Sunset Sessions is a one-night trial. The people running it said publicly that it was built for residents.
Oktoberfest, and the Sunday That Costs Nothing
The clearest example of a perk for locals is this weekend. PCB Oktoberfest takes over Aaron Bessant Park October 16 through 18, 2026. The hours change each day:
| Day | Hours | Advance general admission |
|---|---|---|
| Friday, Oct. 16 | 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. | $16.05 one day, or $26.75 for all three |
| Saturday, Oct. 17 | Noon to 11 p.m. | $16.05 one day, or $26.75 for all three |
| Sunday, Oct. 18 | Noon to 5 p.m. | Free for Bay County residents with local ID |
Children 12 and under get in free every day. The Sunday ticket for residents is easy to miss because it doesn't appear until a code is entered. Here is how the organizers explain it:
- Buy tickets online at pcboktoberfest.com and enter the promo code LOCAL. That unlocks the free Locals Sunday ticket.
- Bring an ID showing a Panama City Beach or Bay County address. Staff check it at the gate.
- Come on Sunday, Oct. 18. The free entry is for Sunday only.
All In Credit Union sponsors the free Sunday. The organizers also posted that this year, "out of an abundance of caution," dogs and other pets are not allowed, so the usual dog walk around Pier Park stops at the gate.
The timing is useful. Sunday is the shortest day, with gates closing at 5 p.m. It is also the free day, and it ends three days before the motorcycle rally begins across the street.
The Week After, Across the Street
Thunder Beach's Fall Motorcycle Rally runs Wednesday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 25. The rally doesn't use Aaron Bessant Park, but its hub is right across the street. The official schedule puts Vendor Village at Frank Brown Park, 16200 Panama City Beach Parkway, and at Crossroads on Front Beach Road. On most days, activity starts at 9 a.m.
The partner venues spread out along the length of the beach:
- Harley-Davidson PCB, 14700 Panama City Beach Parkway
- Sharky's Beachfront, 15201 Front Beach Road
- McGuire's Irish Pub, 17290 Front Beach Road
- The Bike Rack, 12000 Front Beach Road
- Hammerhead Fred's, 8752 Thomas Drive
So three days after Oktoberfest leaves Pier Park, rally traffic arrives at the next block over. We couldn't find a traffic advisory for the fall rally. For the spring rally, WJHG reported more motorcycles on the road, slower trips and more police patrols, and advised extra following distance.
The road between those venues has changed since last fall. Phase 1 of the Back Beach Road widening now has all six lanes open between Mandy Lane and Nautilus Street, nearly a year ahead of schedule, according to WJHG. The same report put Phase 2, from Nautilus to Richard Jackson Boulevard, in late 2027, and Phase 3 to the Hathaway Bridge in late 2030. This is the first fall rally since Phase 1 opened.
Thanksgiving Weekend Belongs to the Park
After the rally, Aaron Bessant Park is quiet until the end of November. Then Beach Home for the Holidays takes over on November 27 and 28, the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. Visit Panama City Beach lists carol-themed concerts, s'mores, a Christmas tree lighting, a visit from Santa, and activities for kids.
The event page lists two headliners. The first is The Band Perry. The second is a joint program from the Panama City Symphony and the Panama City Ballet, with scenes from The Nutcracker, Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" and Strauss's "Radetzky March," ending with fireworks. The full schedule is still marked "coming soon," so it isn't yet clear which act plays which night.
Visit Panama City Beach describes the weekend as the moment that "waves goodbye to fall" and starts the holiday month.
New Year's Eve, Spread Across Two Blocks
The year ends where the fall started. The Beach Ball Drop to welcome 2027 begins in the afternoon, with a free Kids FUN Zone at Aaron Bessant Park from 4 p.m. Children's drops follow at 8 p.m., one at the park and one on Pier Park Drive. The main drop comes at midnight from Celebration Tower, with fireworks launched from Russell-Fields Pier.
The 8 p.m. drop gives families with young kids a countdown that ends in time for bed. Russell-Fields Pier is also due for work. In January, the Panama City News Herald reported that the city approved a contract of more than $482,000 to replace the pier's wooden side and top rails. No construction or completion date was given.
Where the Evening Continues
Several places have opened near this circuit in 2026. The Bird & Brew Co. at Pier Park is among the openings on the News Herald's list of restaurants that opened in the first half of the year, along with 30A Coffee Co. and Panera Bread.
Juan Taco, long based at Laketown Wharf on South Thomas Drive, has opened a second location at 11560 Panama City Beach Parkway. Big Mama's Coastal Country Cooking opened on August 31 at 10071 Hutchison Boulevard, according to the same News Herald list. The paper's opening-day story describes country cooking, a full bar and TVs for game days. Football season and Oktoberfest overlap, so the game-day setup will see use this weekend.
